Of Course I Love You

My breathing becomes heavier
My head unusually tilts
I flit between mild shaking,
Fidgeting and being stalk still
My feet uncomfortably shuffle
Previously I drowned you with
Information and repeated myself
Furtively I cover my mouth or
Other areas felt as vulnerable
I’ve started to blink my eyes
I’m perspiring more than usual
I feel like I might be stuttering
Our conversation is strained
We are on the cusp of arguing
We both fear being caught in a lie
“I would never lie to you, honest.”
‘I am only acting this way
Because I know you’re going
To ask me,’
“Do you still love me.”

And I am going to answer
“Yes, of course I do.”
