Gossip
Rumours round the bar
ever the same tomorrow too,
would not have it another way
no harm intended ... ... ...
little damage done.
David Brown is going to Highley
playing crown green bowls
defending last years Cup,
tells me he knows Dave Tyrrell
taught his daughters, they're in their 30s
I meet Dave at the Station
every Tuesday night, the beers good
(don't talk politics or swear.)
At the Tiddly I'm not of the village
come here on Wednesday night
with the Jims listening to gossip
which is loud and to be shared
Soon we'll have the stories
only have to wait,
for today we'll enjoy the beer.
The barmaid has two kids we hear
ones a boy, nothing to do with us
but its nice to know.................

There's healthy gossip and there's malicious gossip. Healthy gossip helps you know others, i.e. - the barmaid has two children so perhaps you'll tip more in knowing that.
It's good to know your fellow's accomplishments and struggles as opportunities to support, encourage, or even assist their lives.
It's the malicious focused on tearing other's down that gets me.

I saw nothing malicious in the poem, Kexby. Nor did I mean to imply you weren't aware of the various shades of gossip. It merely triggered my thoughts on gossip. As poetry often does.
I guess I could always just say " NICE! " and move on. But it made me think and thus comment. Which is a compliment.
As for the tip, it's customary to tip the bartender and servers here. Knowing one is in college or raising children causes me to throw an extra buck in.

Welcome to this neck of the woods ! Gossip being generally cheap I aim to write a poem that fits the subject This poem is as cheap as its subject..I discussed this subject with a mentor before writing We shall discuss again next week, as usual. As with most of my stuff this poem sticks with a single subject , not excessively long and does not preach T.hanks for calling souladareatease.
