Moving forward
Everybody's doing it,
Right?
It's expected
It's necessary
It's part of life
"What have you been up to?"
I hate that question.
They think I'm lazy
I'm asked about future plans,
Impossible goals, nonexistent dreams.
I think I'm crazy.
Whatever I try,
it makes no difference
My life's at a standstill
"It's just a tough time -
You're a little behind"
Oh, thanks. I couldn't tell.
Some say to get it together
Some say I can catch up
I feel like I never will

Consider the islands in the stream -
Holding the fort, but shaped by running waters. -

As we get older and start reaching some milestones, we start to taking a more careful inventory of what life has been. It's a question I often tell my grown sons so that they won't feel time slipped by, sometime I wish I could have thought about more in detail when I was young.
