Pink Pigtails
I noticed you were in a hurry
your bright hair bouncing
along side your down turned face
calling for the attention
you so obviously need
Thin frame shrouded
like mirrors at a funeral
covering the pain of seeing
the light from reflecting
off the scars of your
latest autopsy
I recognize you
little necromancer
defying death
crying for a semblance of life
before the rot spreads
and necessary pieces of you
fall away
I watch you approach
consider stopping you
or fighting my own decaying body
to stand and walk with you
talk with you
You look up from your baby doll shoes
our eyes meet in a heart stopping moment
of recognition
until you stumble in your rush
to put me behind you
I hold my tongue
as you squint over your shoulder at me
yes, take a good look boy
let my presence alone tell you
all I'm now too breathless to say
You will survive
it is not death you seek
merely
reincarnation
May she be
all that you imagine
