You say love
as if
it should mean something
beyond and between
these hungry moments
we steal from Death's mouth
every last morsel
rolled 'round tongues
sucked
savored
consumed
piping hot
searing taste buds
leaving us numb
to everything but
the heat
which invariably
dissipates

Johnny caught the only thing I saw that needed corrected.
I first thought of Tina Turner's song, " What's Love Got To Do With It"! And many times it doesn't have anything to do with it.
Lust, maybe. Chemical reaction definitely.
But never Love. Love only burns ever deeper. That's what sets it apart and makes it Love.
It's eternal and more deeply stirring to our blood than any imaging could ever be.
I enjoy poetry like this, that causes my heart to ponder such things.❤
