Rote Ritual

Will we ever get the story right?
Will we write the tale,
as it’s meant to be written?

You know your part,
don’t stray from the lines,
We’ve almost reached the edge
the world’s woven through the play

Go any further,
Then you’ll fall off the stage,
And all we’ve worked for
falls apart

You didn’t get the memo?
For we’re acting in the moment.
You’ve practiced for it
over
A Thousand Times Before.

It’s folded over
In a tale on a tale,
Then it’s folded
back again

You know it in your very soul,
You should know it by heart,
by now.

It’s Rote Ritual,
Ritual Rote,
And This Rote Ritual
Writes The World’s Tale

Over and over,
we practiced
for this moment

Don’t Blow it now,
For it’s our time to shine

We’ve broken on through,
To the other Side of Time,
And Have come back
to take the tale
and set it all right.

Everything that was
Was written in the moment,
We’ve said it over and over
’Til it was a part of our selves

The time has come
Just don’t blow it,
you can improvise,
But don’t stray from the script

It’s a ritual of time,
Where the world’s a stage
And we actors play but a part
Upon the page of the moment,
Spelling out a grander play

Don’t Blow it now,
For it’s our time to shine
And This Rote Ritual
Writes The World’s Tale
