Small Town
Do you remember the days
When as kids we would play
Outside we would stay
Life was never gray
Hide and go seek
Down by the creek
Around back we would sneak
For a quick peck on the cheek
Met up with the “Gang”
Our songs we sang
No cell phones rang
Never seemed strange
Nothing was finer
Thought our league was the minors
Except when those base liners
Left one of us with a shiner
Rode bikes to the park
Made the neighbor’s dogs bark
Pedaled so hard, swore we left sparks
So we could get home just before dark
Sun up to sun down
Us kids acted like crazy clowns
Had no sorrows to drown
Life sure was good in this small town
When as kids we would play
Outside we would stay
Life was never gray
Hide and go seek
Down by the creek
Around back we would sneak
For a quick peck on the cheek
Met up with the “Gang”
Our songs we sang
No cell phones rang
Never seemed strange
Nothing was finer
Thought our league was the minors
Except when those base liners
Left one of us with a shiner
Rode bikes to the park
Made the neighbor’s dogs bark
Pedaled so hard, swore we left sparks
So we could get home just before dark
Sun up to sun down
Us kids acted like crazy clowns
Had no sorrows to drown
Life sure was good in this small town
