The Mile Past Forever
While ghosts of you invade
this war of words is waged
no victory
nor defeat
for tears of heartless truth
owned nowhere but the grave
On the empty beach
with its cold crushed sea
skies paint shivers where we lay
Once our shadows
fired purples and pinks
but the sun burns lies today
Dream me the courage
that turns from the land
embraces freedom's tide of faith
to stride out barefoot
the mile past forever and into your arms
never looking back again
