Drying
Old woman's knickers
hanging on the line
the same pair washed every day
now she knows there's no-one
gonna see them again
I wonder when she realised
her last time was the last time
and how much it hurt to know
that part of her life was over
But then maybe
she was already dead inside
from the waist up
or the head down
and got left behind
just waiting to die
in that big old
waiting room for the sky
sure hope they got clothes lines
up there for her.
