WIDE WET GULF (also retitled: 'Whispered Songs I') - (4-15-96, Galveston Island, Texas)
wide wet gulf
flat as a lake today
olive wind pressed plane
from where i stand
sky yawns quietly
over pale green horizon
unbroken by dorsal fins
of dolphins here this day
lest unseen by my
sun filled eyes
no motion here presently
save for delicate
rythmic stroking
of tiny six inch waves
rolling in so sparkling
in these little liquid trains
that go speeding by
like fleeting zippers
in softly hissing
elongated sighs
as they pitch and spill out
their one last gasp
of compressed exhaled air
just before they only seem
to peacefully die
in their selfless sacrifice
into shoreline dissolution
where earth is clearly
keeping time
in its own harmonically
cosmic way
within the subtle hush
of these hypnotic
whispered songs
sweet lullabys for the soul
where evolution
beyond my own
transcendently passes by
my undistracted attention
as i too release
a gentle sigh of sweet relief
here in my own
symbiotically symbolic
innermost shorelines
inter connectedly attuned
intuitively guided
conscious
dissolution
