Dear Taylor
I thought that I would be swift
And quick about this, but I cannot.
I hope you know that you are a gift
To this world. Taylor, I have fought
To become that girl and woman you
Write songs about. Fearless and never
Giving up. The crying ones on floors who
Are still able to stand up and pull the lever
When they need to. They want to have your
Strength and courage. Sometimes they need
It more than anything else. They hear the roar
And rumble of your words. You always lead
Us to higher ground, some holy ground and
Sacred space. When everything goes bad
Taylor, it is like you are holding our hand
Through it all. Every heartbreak and sad
Story. Every sense of faith and hope.
You keep us hanging onto that rope.
And quick about this, but I cannot.
I hope you know that you are a gift
To this world. Taylor, I have fought
To become that girl and woman you
Write songs about. Fearless and never
Giving up. The crying ones on floors who
Are still able to stand up and pull the lever
When they need to. They want to have your
Strength and courage. Sometimes they need
It more than anything else. They hear the roar
And rumble of your words. You always lead
Us to higher ground, some holy ground and
Sacred space. When everything goes bad

Through it all. Every heartbreak and sad
Story. Every sense of faith and hope.
You keep us hanging onto that rope.
