Thorned Rose

I love you very intensely,
So much so that it
Leaves me restless
When you're not near.

These feelings are
A double-edged sword.
I'm not sorry that I have them,
But they make things difficult.

Being apart from you
Leaves me feeling
Hollow and listless,
Like part of me is missing.

I have a renewed meaning
And purpose once again,
And a new obsession
Threatening to overwhelm.

I have no regrets though
Because I would rather
Feel this way now than
The emptiness before you.
