Red Dress

she craved a red dress
delicate and bargain basement priced
she wanted it two sizes too small for her
she didn’t want anyone to have to guess
what was underneath it
she wanted to walk like she was
the only woman in the world
and can have her pick of men
she wanted to wear it
walking down the highway
until some burly semi truck driver
locked the brakes on his Peterbilt and
rips the dress from her body
she wanted that red dress so bad
so it would confirm everyone’s
worst fears about her
to show you she didn’t give a fuck
what you thought of her
she wanted that cheap-ass red dress
even if it killed her
