The End Of Love

He’s feeling it again
And he can tell that she is too
They’ve been together for a long time now
And their love has become stale
If there is love at all
It seems to happen every time no matter what
He can’t prevent it any more than she can
It’s just impossible to keep that first met excitement alive
Even having sex feels rote and unfulfilling now
As if they’ve done it all before and doing it again
Doesn’t bring anything  close to the rapture of the first times
It makes him sad to think that soon they’ll be going their own ways
But there is no other way
He supposes that he could hang on and be unhappy in this relationship
And just do it all over and over again
And learn to hate her while still smiling at her
He wonders if she will be the one to make the final move
And make both of them happier
It is the end and they both know it
But who will have the courage to say it
That final goodbye
