Midnight Lovers

He removes his clothing slowly
Keeping eye contact
Proud of his body, his abs
And all the rest
Especially all the rest

His blond hair, naturally wavy
Eyes blue as southern skies
Penetrating as an old gator's tracking gaze

Skin white as refined sugar cane, hers sun browned
creases in both their faces
adds flavor to the aura of their independence

in the deepening ebony night he comes to her
she's as precious as midnight's beguiling
she says he wastes his passion on the frail of her

still . . . neither of them can release the other
maybe her fondling, groping fingers
and his probing, shaking hands are mendacious and lying
but I wouldn't want to be the one to suggest it
