Fear Less Maddi

Papi says be fearless
In everything I do
That I can be a great person
But I wonder if that's true

He says, See that girl there
Standing up to that huge bull
She's staring him right in the eye
Hair tossed back her heart is full

I ask him is he ever scared
He gives a sigh and starts to think

There were my times of doubt
Like my first time in an ice rink

There was the time as a boy I drove a huge truck
Through the streets of New York City

I dived in a pool but couldn't swim
Then tried on a beach in Atlantic City

I played too rough when I was in school
Got tackled by some boys and broke my shoulder

Then another time I broke my toe
Hopping from boulder to boulder

I've been sacred with just about everything I've done
Silly as it sounds
That's what makes it fun
To face your fears and know that you've won

I asked Papi who taught him such things
He says my father of course as he stuck
out his hand
Then we grabbed our boards and carried them over the sand
