Image for the poem Cassandra

Cassandra

Cassandra calling
prophetic disclaimer
of events befalling
the insensible ones

when she does speak
regretting the pain
worlds are fast lost
on words then unheard

to kiss would be pleasure
if it were the way
when spit is the answer
betrayal is plain

blind lead the deaf
each keeping their council
while Cassandra berates
the fallen of heaven

the stubborn resist
unconcerned for their past
the future unhinges
on the lore now deplored.

The poem “Cassandra” started out as a word experiment around a name. The end result is a warning about ignoring the signs of danger.
