The Pub
You sit three chairs down,
nursing a beer as you order a
shot of whiskey
and I watch you gracefully
let the sting hit your tongue
I am struck at your beauty
It makes me feel lonely
so I close my eyes
and live a lifetime
with you
in a moment
My eyes open and with you still
in my thoughts
I stand up
swallow my drink
and step outside
in the sweltering
late night heat
with my quiet rage
nursing a beer as you order a
shot of whiskey
and I watch you gracefully
let the sting hit your tongue
I am struck at your beauty
It makes me feel lonely
so I close my eyes
and live a lifetime
with you
in a moment
My eyes open and with you still
in my thoughts
I stand up
swallow my drink
and step outside
in the sweltering
late night heat
with my quiet rage
