I Should

Strumming fingers became a habit
Taps in perfect sync
I should of clipped these claws
But then again......
I should have done many things

Fidgeting my legs
Became another habit
Aching so desperately
To break free from
This cold, seated trap
But then again......
I should be listening

This foreign language
Drifts from one ear to the other
Whatever they said
Should say
About to say
Was all covered in layers
Each coat a hint thicker
My self-portrait
But then again......
I should focus

Feeding off every opportunity
To quench my tasteless needs
An exit I long for
Illuminating, beckoning
Covered in neon letters
My salvation only a mere heartbeat away
But then again....
I should stay here

My physique has a mind of its own
For I let my hands, legs and hips do the talking
An empty stage became my sanctuary
But then again......
I should have done many things
I should be listening
I should focus
I should stay here

They're always watching.......
