Two Hearts
Two hearts, far into the night they go
The more they fight, the more they grow
Taller than the roots of passion
Which manifest in a fleeting fashion
Barbarously burrowing my battered brain
Elimating emotions down the drain
Again and again and again
As the process is repeated
Senses are slowly depleted
Like two hearts caught between a rock
Trying to feel the feelings it blocks
How to choose between two universes
When one lays calm while the other's hurting
Two hearts in the same place and the same time
Which one's yours and which one's mine?

hey, welcome to DU! I really like your poem! Question: did you intend to have the anchor of the lines rhyme in pairs? (like dual to fuel, ego to grow) it has an interesting effect. At first (tbh) i did not particularly care for the flow of the piece. after reading it a second time i enjoyed it more because i was expecting it. I would be curious as to the rhythm you would read/perform it at. Thanks for sharing and i hope ya stick around <3

This is intricately written with good rhymes, I like ' barbarously burrowing my battered brain ' , good line....
