Sacred Contracts XXXI: Of Monsters
[font=Lucida Sans Unicode,Lucida Grande]
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.
And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." ~ Nietzsche
I’ve slipped over remains
of monstrous battles
in both deed and character
-- others as well as my own
if I'm to be completely honest
Galactic light-being’s contracted
for various reasons to jackhammer
the tarred asphalt of stagnancy
free from its human gravity
Thus we transcend complacency
merge into a vibrational form
depart this recycled plateau
of reflected pattern
(Re)Turning to Remembrance
that which we’ve learned
how we’ve come to know it
to have survived this long
balancing the shard of a minute
The trajectory of our heart
aims for simple acceptance
that painful path to peace
altering misconceptions
of Universal cruelties
into portals of opportunity
As I calculate the impossibility
of ascension without “(fr)enemies”
(our greatest and oft’ final teachers)
I can hear my father’s steady voice
moving diagonally with the rook
guarding the queen of a board:
Gaze deep into that abyss, daughter
enough to recognize each monster
without fear or sword for battle -
winning the war isn't a difficult task
If they attempt to return the gaze
hold up the shield of your mirror instead
