Oh, I won't be Your Martyr
Oh, I won’t be your martyr.
I’ll die for nobody’s sins but my own.
I may be a bit of a prophet,
who likes to speak my mind,
But human sacrifice never did
Entirely excite me.
I’m not so cowardly, or uncourageous,
though it may seem.
I just see no point in being
the key player in a fuckin’
sick tragedy, by some
demented people with ides
of grandeur, while
some followers bend and
twist my words into their
own private aims and goals
when I’m gone, Five-hundred,
One-thousand, Two-thousand
years later--- corruption of mercy,
Making so much war and murder
possible for all to enjoy.
Killing those who are different,
through lack of compassion
or understanding ----nothing’s changed.
Close minded beliefs insure Nothing
will ever change, from those people
Who refuse to listen.
Oh, I won’t be your martyr,
Yet I’ll be your teacher and student,
For we all need to learn to love.
We need no dead souls.
I’ll die for nobody’s sins but my own.
I may be a bit of a prophet,
who likes to speak my mind,
But human sacrifice never did
Entirely excite me.
I’m not so cowardly, or uncourageous,
