Orion & Merope
To breathe the curve and then the coil,
The bulge of arm, the pull and spoil.
He levels arrow true in place
As muscles flex in rhythmic grace.
The tune and sinew of his bow
When how at last he lets it go
Towards rearing Horse Head nebulae
While I in awe as missile flees.
He ne'er gives me a single glance
Yet do I mind in spite the trance,
It is for me that he aims high
To stay the target his first try.
With stars that set himself ablaze,
What legend brands his epic phase
And claims the prize with self-same mark.
While 'twixt the galaxies we spark.

I do love the Sagittarius moon (or do I equate the after effects of), and you've done so beautifully with this, Jade. I love the terminology and celestial references that point the arrow to personal feelings and endless adventure.

Orion is the first constellation I could identity in the night sky... I truly enjoyed you ode to the celestial keepers....

This is a skillful and elegant piece, I am actually quite fond of anything that has to do with space. You captured the very essence of that love beautifully. Adding to RL as well.
I'm grateful for the recommend.
I'm glad to know we share a similar interest in everything to do with the universe which was my first passion as a child (before I could read).

This is totally off base, pun intended, but as I was looking at the picture, I saw a pitcher... a left-handed pitcher who looks kinda like the Met's Jacob deGrom with his hair swirling, taking aim at homeplate. The ball is clearly in his left hand with a glove on his right hand and his eyes glaring in at the batter. His baseball cap is slightly askew from the fierceness of his pitching motion augment the blue and kinda orange hue of his uniform and cap... ahh, I love baseball all year long...
Having said that, i enjoyed your vision of he heavens and appreciate your celestial imagery!

I wish I lived in an area conducive to stargazing. Too many city lights around here. I love your write about the great stellar huntsman, and his love waiting twixt the galaxies.

Ah yes. I remember from my childhood when my parents would take my sisters & I to the high deserts in Antelope Valley in the evening, and into the night we'd all venture out into poppy fields and star-gaze up at the giant atrium of constellations and literally clouds of an arm from the Milky Way. It was glorious!
