Pieced Together

The truth hurts but so do the lies.
Underneath every pretend smile
Is the pain and suffering. She shies

Away from the tears, all the while
On the outside she pretends to be
Strong. She will walk that extra mile

Just to see someone else happy. She
Is broken, but she keeps that to
Herself. She no longer feels free.

Even when she feels blue
On the inside, she never tries to show
It to anybody and even through

Her bad days, she tries to glow
Bright like the stars she battles
To be. She cannot let the black crow

Cover her beautiful sky. She saddles
Up herself for the fight coming her way.
She is the one who always paddles

Others to shore and wants them to stay
For her because although she is too afraid
To say it, she needs them through the grey

Days. I need more than my piece of jade
And I see into the deep pools of water
That are calling my name. I feel betrayed

To the core. I try to never falter,
But I stumble just a bit when the path gets
Rocky and everything gets out of order.
