Mindful Madness Pt. 3
I'm a business man.
Business man?
Man with a plan,
a man with a can-do attitude?
...What are you two rambling about?
Mindless prattle, no doubt
Don't mind me, excuse the *yawn*, go on
I don't mean a cocky, snob in a suit.
Um, that goes without saying...
considering the tattered Metallica t-shirt you're displaying
Excuse the fuss, enlighten us
I mean, I'm the kind that acts for a specific outcome.
...Rather than giving altruistically
but more opportunistically
eh, I condone, to each his own
You mean you're a self-absorbed dick
In other words, you only care for yourself, what a prick
And you drag us down with you too
Heh, yes, don't forget you haven't separated yet
Don't interject, don't forget, we're still one man, with segregated mind-sets.
You're me, I'm you too, we're three, we are we you see?
Now...If I may, I have something important to say.
Kindness, generosity, altruism are admired today.
However, greed, acquisitiveness, and self-interest are looked down upon this way.
But those are the traits of success in this day and age.
Philosophical psycho-babble
...He has a point, not just prattle
I'm un-struck and still don't give a fuck
...*sigh* and still no luck

The process you're going through with these writes is starting to find it's own style and delivery. It's an awesome thing to see.
I read this poem some years ago by this wonderful poet that I consider one of the best. I think you will like it!

It's a comforting feeling, that others feel the void. I think I gained a feeling more than an understanding from Madman Diaries. It's fascinating, I read obscure poetry 3-5 times and imagery, message, morals, metaphors start to unfold in my mind, but this one still remained a bit obscure to me. Curious, what would you say about it?

Thanks for the unique feedback! I'm always appreciative of feedback, but, you have me curious. Was there more on your mind?

"contempt for money is a trick of
the rich to keep the poor without it"
Al Pacino Godfather Pt 2
that quote entered my head as i read how this
3 way conversation took place inside your head..
motives vs morality/ ethics..
it sounded like two against one
one came around but the other remains unconvinced hence
your hung jury..
on an artistic note
love the presentation
the concept of using 3 different type faces
as the characters was very original..
also..i really enjoyed the clever clever rhyme
scheme embedded within..
great poetry all the way around..

Great comment man! Thanks a million, it's always an honor to get feedback from you bro.
Contempt for money is a trick of the rich to keep the poor without it...
I generally consider myself well rounded when it comes to deciphering quotes/philosophy, etc...
But, if you don't mind, give me a few more of your thoughts on that one?
Steinbeck actually inspired this one, from Cannery Row
“It has always seemed strange to me...The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.”

those who control society knows the mind is a suggestion box
we have these little seemingly innocuous saying that everyone has heard
before but never questioned the origin of such sayings
i'e.
can't have your cake and eat it too [why not?]
money can't buy happiness [ neither can poverty ]
the only thing certain in life is death and taxes [really?]
this is part of how the wealthy subdue the mind
through inception...daily suggestions,axioms that marginalize
the imagination breeding contempt without us even knowing so
because it's disguised through clever word games....
and yes..Steinbeck said it perfectly

Aha! Yes, I see now. I wonder, why people don't question such indoctrinations on a regular basis. I often pity them. But more so, I wonder what's different about their minds than mine. I have to remind myself often, that much of the time, it comes down to experience/age/IQ/EQ. So many variables.

What an interesting inner monologue, the different personalities taking on their own, individual traits...

You have such poetic style! I love this beautifully written piece, for me revealing the ugly truth of society. I'm a sucker for observational poems and this one really hit home for me. I'd already started reading it before I realised it was part 3 but I wouldn't have known, I enjoyed it as a single piece.
'But those are the traits of success in this day and age' (aren't they just! Love this line)
