Afterthought
Why do I feel like an afterthought?
When nobody wants what it is that you’ve got
When what you’ve got isn’t worth two bucks
Where nobody seems to give two fucks
When acts of kindness are rarely seen
When you feel like you’re less than a human being
When you feel abandoned and on your own
You never get a text; no one rings your phone
Even in your virtual life, e-friends overlook
Inbox clearly empty, so few likes on Facebook
You’re never on anyone’s party list
Seldom hugged, never kissed
They used to be family, some were even friends
Now become so distant, no one tries or pretends
They say they don’t remember, needing a reminder
If they’d only tell the truth that would be much kinder
When they are reminded, a trite apology is given
If they really meant it, in future they’d be driven
But clearly; they’re not;
You’re just an afterthought
But clearly; they’re not;
You’re just an afterthought
