Hangover
The numbness and the buzz
Must be wearing off because I am
Left missing what was
Happening between us. The slam
Of the door after every little fight
And when you would never give a damn.
When you met me, I was always in flight
Mode, ready to take off. You came in
Like the darkness and black night,
Leaving me blinded. You tilted my chin
And I forgot about taking off again.
You were there when I scraped my shin
And fell hard. It was my brain
That was struggling to catch up with
Everything else. I wanted to feign
Anger when I became the fifth
Thing on your list of priorities. I
Though that you were just a myth
In my head. I hated that goodbye,
But it is too late now. It was an endless
Struggle, but we gave it one hell of a try.
