Dusty Tomes {Written by WillowsWhimsies and voiced by me}
dusty tomes
line ancient shelves
fragrant flames
warm the hearth
and silence
is the loudest sound
on evenings
spent in restful quiet
a single chair
drawn near the fire
warms a body
cold and tired
tis but a simple room
filled with things
of little earthly value
they are to her
more precious
than diamonds or gold
for she calls this place
her beloved home
many a day
she did wander far
through meadow
mountain and plain
yet always
to return with joy
to this place
her heart does call
its own
to sit before her gentle flames
warming bones that ache
with the chill of age
reading books
lovingly gathered
and sitting
with eyes closed
to recall
each inch
of every youthful mile
to relive each sight
and lovely scent
she holds them tightly
to her inner soul
and in delight
remembers them all
