Dont Underestimate Me

Is the difference only experience
My lack of understanding
Brought on by lack of living
You define me as a child
One who puts wants in front of necessities
Fun in front of responsibilities
And who is careless of consequences
You judge too harshly
It’s all based on age
Never taking into consideration
Me, as a person
I may not understand completely
But give me some credit
I’m not a mindless, irresponsible teenager
Anymore than you’re an insensitive, bitter old man
You can argue with me all you want
I put up a good fight
All you’re doing is stereotyping
Based on a number
I’m not saying I’m smarter or more mature
None more than any of my peers
All I’m saying is I’m not clueless
So when you think of holding back
Don’t
When you think of stopping in your tracks
Continue
