The Joke
Withdrawn to long, safe from the world
Stuck in a dream state, hidden from passion
My flag of freedom never been unfurled
Life passes me by in my self built prison
When something strange wakens inside
An ache that turns to pain with out end
Step on the road alone with no guide
So starts a journey in search of a friend
Sparkling blue eyes invites with a grin
Now the game begins, it's time to speak
What can be said, where do you begin
Fear inside when conversation is weak
Keep on trying the banter will flow
Not a comedian, nowhere near cool
The harder I try the lower I go
After each exchange still feeling a fool
Again and again with a word or two
Should I try a joke that sets things free?
Then the mist clears, at last I see through
Painful realisation the joke is on me
Laughter in groups as I walk away
Giggle and point at the fugly man
This world hurts I must get away
Back to my prison as fast as I can
Build the wall high, safe once again
Withdrawn back to my lonely place
Laughter goes on so does the pain
Bowed out before they laugh in my face
Stuck in a dream state, hidden from passion
My flag of freedom never been unfurled
Life passes me by in my self built prison
When something strange wakens inside
An ache that turns to pain with out end
Step on the road alone with no guide
So starts a journey in search of a friend
Sparkling blue eyes invites with a grin
Now the game begins, it's time to speak
What can be said, where do you begin
Fear inside when conversation is weak
Keep on trying the banter will flow
