Stepping Over the Precipice (collaboration contest entry with Angelmusezik)

Should we step over the cloaked precipice
And risk the fall to the sharp rocks below
To an unexplored forest of the sensuous
That our friendship could become lost in the flow?

What's the harm in the exploration of the unknown?
How can a night of sin and morning of delight
Crush the years of caring and trust that has grown?
What's written in the stars can't be erased by daylight

I've seen the same stars that speak to your lonely heart
They sing to me each night in a chorus of sparkling eyes
Their song repeats the refrain of two souls who never part
Even as we separate for the night the sun will still rise

Let me stay the night in your arms to discover what dawn will bring
We will still be friends and the benefit will blow the shadows of darkness away
Let the stars write a new verse for you and me to share harmony for us to sing
We will lay the past to rest as we lay in the glow of an endless new day

Two friends transform to become friends and lovers across the stormy night
Like virgins who never knew that love could bring such happiness
We took the leap in ink and all that's left is for life to lift it's thirsty quill and write
poetry to enlighten two souls who once lived behind a veil of lonely blindness
