Sticks and Stones

I woke up today and didn't know where I was
I felt sick and only had one shoe on
I didn't want it to get like this
who would want me when I'm this bad?
just a pile of bones, dirt and sand
put in a red dress and called a woman
but I don't know what the fuck I am

I keep scratching my way along
saying I ain't doin' nothing wrong
but my conscience is not a liar
I know hell's got fire
and my momma prays for me at night
but I keep saying "sticks and stones
I'm gonna be alright"

Maybe I was born to be this way
but maybe it's all choices that I made
a little lazy, a little wild
a grown up stuck inside a child
Playing the queen card
but holding the joker tight
I don't have the best hand
but I've got my poker face on tonight

I keep scratching my way along
saying I ain't doin' nothing wrong
but my conscience is not a liar
I know hell's got fire
and my momma prays for me at night
but I keep saying "sticks and stones
I'm gonna be alright"

Little baby in the corner
somebody please warn her
pretty boys tell ugly lies
the meanest girls have the best thighs
and no one wants to talk about
the truth these days
I miss you in a hundred ways

I keep scratching my way along
saying I ain't doin' nothing wrong
but my conscience is not a liar
I know hell's got fire
and my momma prays for me at night
but I keep saying "sticks and stones
I'm gonna be alright"
