Inamorata

‘She was a thief and a whore and a kept woman.’  Sandburg

I chase a dream & trouble follows
I drive a highway lost in hell
a woman snares me in her spell
my hardest kiss, she swallows

she writes her heart on the wind that blows
the stars are killed, the moon’s accused
a lover’s flesh must be abused
the storm ungently goes

a whore is meant to be degraded
we sing praetorian songs of hedon
and dance savannahs tramped in Eden
a harlot, raped & humiliated

orgasms like bullets in a bandoleer
her amorous tongue is a blasphemy
I give the torment she begs of me
and steal every tear

enslave my lust & crave my bite
stay with me thru the storms ahead
lay with me in a wailing bed
where I sleep at night…
