Travelling on the Highway
Twists and turns with gravelled edges
A sun frying whatever lays on this oven
Stones and rocks and pebbles and grit
Cars and bikes will never see fit
To travel one must voyage on feet
Machines die with thirst in this heat
A paved lane to indicate what’s right
The other side a graveyard of corpses
To show travellers what’s been left
A hazy murky misty presence
Omniscient so I cannot tell
What’s lies ahead and behind me
Making it easy to mislead me
Yet this presence settles not on the road
It rests on my eyes as I squint for light
The grit the pebbles the rocks the stones
The gravelled edges and the twists and turns
Have vanished before me and I’m falling
Gravity grabs my flesh and pulls me under
A heart beats ferociously like crashing thunder
My voyage takes a twist and turn
And now I’m trapped inside this urn
With a harsh message for me to learn
That those who go astray will forever burn
A sun frying whatever lays on this oven
Stones and rocks and pebbles and grit
Cars and bikes will never see fit
To travel one must voyage on feet
Machines die with thirst in this heat
A paved lane to indicate what’s right
The other side a graveyard of corpses
To show travellers what’s been left
A hazy murky misty presence
Omniscient so I cannot tell
What’s lies ahead and behind me
Making it easy to mislead me
Yet this presence settles not on the road
It rests on my eyes as I squint for light
The grit the pebbles the rocks the stones
The gravelled edges and the twists and turns
Have vanished before me and I’m falling
Gravity grabs my flesh and pulls me under
A heart beats ferociously like crashing thunder
My voyage takes a twist and turn
And now I’m trapped inside this urn
With a harsh message for me to learn
That those who go astray will forever burn
