Although I am not standing physically
Next to you, I am still with you
In solidarity. Every hateful word
Spoken and every action that are
Meant to hurt you, they hurt me too.
How could other people be so cruel?
In this world that is supposed to be
Full with love and kindness,
Why is it also filled with hatred?
I hold your hand although I am
Not there with you every day.
People are judged every day based
On their skin color, gender identity,
Religion, how much money they have,
The way they love, and who they love.
I wish that we lived in a world where
It is more than just black and white.
This world should be more than
Just class and gender. Just know that
I am there with you every step of the way.
