Another Soldier
That's all I thought an hour in
"Great, another soldier" I thought
My heart flinched as I read the message
I made a choice right then
I chose to talk to this soldier
He told me about his Mom
He told me about his Dad too
We talked well into the night
Four years older, and a giant
Compared to how tall I am
He kept telling me I was so sweet
And I couldn't help but think
Of a soldier I once knew
But the differences between the two
Are too vast to be mixed
I now ignore the military terms
He has in his messages
I focus on his black eyes
And the way he says my name
I try my best not to compare
To the soldier I once knew so well
I wait patiently for when
My dark soldier comes
And holds me so close
I'll ignore the echos
Of a past heartbreak
His deep voice heals
The damage caused by others
Now I wait once more
For a soldier boy brave
At least this one is stationed here
"Great, another soldier" I thought
My heart flinched as I read the message
I made a choice right then
I chose to talk to this soldier
He told me about his Mom
He told me about his Dad too
We talked well into the night
Four years older, and a giant
Compared to how tall I am
He kept telling me I was so sweet
And I couldn't help but think
Of a soldier I once knew
But the differences between the two
Are too vast to be mixed
I now ignore the military terms
He has in his messages
I focus on his black eyes
And the way he says my name
I try my best not to compare
To the soldier I once knew so well
I wait patiently for when
My dark soldier comes
And holds me so close
I'll ignore the echos
Of a past heartbreak
His deep voice heals
The damage caused by others
Now I wait once more
For a soldier boy brave
At least this one is stationed here
