Tanka Rensaku: Death
.
It doesn't matter,
especially when death comes,
what season it is,
whether into the ether
when a part of a life leaves
through a window, or
out the door in even steps,
3-days worth in a bag
knowing how long as I do
the actual uncounted
in a constant sleep
even during waking hours
forgetting to eat
daylight unable to break
where all the blinds are missing

Beautifully written melancholy lines. If I was to guess I'd say it's about depression:
"in a constant sleep
even during waking hours
forgetting to eat
daylight unable to break
where the blinds are missing"
This really resonates with me personally, even down to the missing blinds. Altogether fine work Jade.

/Drool... Just love these words, spectacular whimsical imagery... I knew I would like your writing, it's brilliant. And trust me, I'm not shy about giving a critique. It's all wonderful to have your friends high-five your writing and I like it too, it'll never improve it, not even an iota. Our true duty is to improve our friends anyway we can and them us...

Re: Re. Tanka Rensaku: Death
Thank you, Ed, for embracing, though "spectacular whimsical" is way over the top, and my preference doesn't ask for critiques,
No need for the talk about "friends" hi-5ing a piece. There are readers and followers here with their respectful comments,
Meantime, I've always understood the exchange of knowledge and inspiration between writer and other writers, and readers, since I became a poet at age 14.

Re: Re. Tanka Rensaku: Death
I will pay more attention to your selection next time on comments. However, the universe is flexible and so our minds must also be...
There is only love here in this moment, Dear Jade...

Each turn surprises and reveals with nostalgia without descent to melancholia and this is the essence of the form that you've captured

Thank you dear whale sir for the way you've been able to embrace my Rensaku in the way I did when it came to me in its initial spill and scrub.

Pardon my simple mind Jadey... as always your ink pops imagery (no matter how weird I thought it to be)

*gentle hug*
Ahh my Oxy friend, poems are usually open to interpretations in every direction, with no right or wrong conclusions, and no need for apologies. As long as you found a meaning that makes sense to you.
Best of all is when you come and share with me.
care and love,
always
