Losing Her Religion

My Granny wears a turban now
She’s changed her name to Singh
The reason that she’s done it
She keeps losing everything
Misplaced her keys, misplaced her hat
She’d even managed to lose her cat
She’s lost her bag, she’s lost her purse
Her forgetfulness was getting worse
She lost her socks, she’s lost her shoes
She lost her tickets for a Caribbean cruise
She managed to lose two brand new sweaters
Her spectacles and important letters
She’d lost her Lycra leotard
She’d lost cigarettes and her library card
Retracing steps, times to relive
Still, she’d never lost her will to live
She’d lost her mind, she’d lost the plot
Where they are, she’d just forgot
She lost her pills for indigestion
Then from a friend a good suggestion
Solving her forgetful mind
She said “Sikh and ye shall find”
