Etched in blood
Jumping rope
With entrails
Hide and seek
No eyes to peek
Counting with your fingers

Tag your it
Your wrists I've slit
Look, see now I've caught you
Mother may I...
Tear out your throat
Jugular lay there bleeding
Play pick up sticks
With ribs and femurs
Your heart no longer beating

Bouncing head and vertebrae
A quick game of jacks we'll play
Shards of glass
Make the game more interesting
One, two, three pieces
Whoops, there goes a finger!
Their sharp edges cut deep
Slicing open flesh
Like a cleaver to meat
Quickness is the game
But without fingers to play
You’ve lost already

Strewn intestines on the ground
Make perfect boxes for foursquare
A severed head
Doesn’t bounce so well
Unless you bash it down
With extreme force
Against the blacktop
Bits of brain and skull
Splatter every which way
Soaking uniforms in sanguine mosaic

Two teams of five
Run toward the center
Where the butcher knife waits
In a modified game of dodge ball
That’s sure to lop of some limbs
Steel glints as the knife’s thrown aloft
Slicing through the recipient’s torso
He doesn’t let it drop and yanks it free
Blood spills from his abdomen
As he falls to the ground, bleeding out
Soon the field of play
Is covered in amputated limbs
And fallen competitors

The morbid activity halts
As the bells chime
Ending this morning’s recess
It’s back to business as usual:
To educating young minds
At the Macabre Academy for Reprehensible Youth
