Smiling Blamelessly
She smiles blamelessly, knowing he’ll greet
Her with innocuous words that seems to suit
Her mood: such blandishments seem rather sweet
As well as apposite; he may recruit
Those thighs that chafe with the remembered thrill
Of grasping, clasping, panted endearments
In curtained rooms, where a girl's pleased to spill
Herself upon the bed and cast garments
Away, keen to lose them, while outside dusk
Is thickening or afternoons drag on;
And she won’t hear street voices, for she must
Devote her thoughts to him; and trust she’s won
A chance to tend to thickening she’ll see
And touch and taste, while smiling blamelessly…
