'Round the Corner📚
.
We make a date; let's meet at the book nook,
That sells every subject between covers,
Holding the universe in a nutshell.
So when he shows up exactly on time
Impeccably dressed in his bookish style,
I practic'lly swoon, that look from his specs!
We pass by bags of ground beans & green tea,
Of rotating racks with canvas book bags,
And rows of trendy kiln-glazed mugs on hooks.
We both look askance at hands on the clock.
As if from one mind we bolt for the stairs;
The lift would be faster, but time is scarce.
We run for the stacks and down the first row,
Biology! That's more than we want to know.
Surgery, Dentistry, Philosophy.
Sigmund, where are you when we need you most?
We go down - on all fours - and start crawling.
Geology. Ha! They'll NEVER find us!
We lie in a pile of first editions.
I writhe and I gasp; he's found my hot spot:
I love the smell of hard-bound most of all!
This will always be our fa-vo-rite place.
Love in a local shop 'round the corner,
There's nothing better for bookworms like us.

I love the playfulness in this. Like a couple kids in a toy store. ☺

Ahh Miki, how lovely we share the passion of book shops to embrace those emotions in. Many thanks for your endearing share.

The sheer exuberance of being totally in the moment with that one you love... heaven. I envisioned it in Black&White, as one of those screwball 30's comedies... like Grant & Hepburn in BRINGING UP BABY...

Thanks so much, Geoffrey, it was a delight for me!
As for Bringing Up Baby, talk about one frenetic screwball!😆

I'm a bookworm myself so I'm delighted. I've never found the nerve to do it in the rows, and I respect your bravado. I continue to feel pleasure in actual books rather than Klndle or other means of catching up on the reading. I wouldn't mind giving it a go on top of some select titles, maybe "Lady Chatterley's Lover" and quality contemporary work. I loved this Jade, so I'll shelve it in the "Eros" section of my library. Maybe I'll see you around the corner sometime...

LOL Omgosh thank you dear crowfly, I embrace your support, your enthusiasm, your appreciation, as one bookworm to another! Indeed, the original organic source, not something like Kindle with a built-in light, muahahahaaa!
Thank you so much for the RL, and we'll meet there one day!

Making love among our favorite objects of obsession...nothing more romantic. I will remember your words and thrill at the scent the next time I'm in a bookstore or library...my nose is jones'n on a hardback right now. Bravisima talentosa poeta!

Scent is highly motivating and so unique to the individual or object and to the conjuring of memories.

this sounds like a humorous erotica rather than a romance. nonetheless, I like the atmosphere of oneness as well as the emphasis and creative mix of your setting with your other poetic devices.

Oh, this is so my neighborhood.
If we go on a date to the Common Good Book Store, we'll have tea and coffee afterwards at Dunn Brothers.
If we can't find a place to sit, I'll tell Garrison Keller to move his pompous ass out of the way.
Oh, in order to fit in, we must bring an exotic breed of dog along to show off. Preferably one that bites.
