-black dog
a little black dog asked me to say hello, he follows
me around in my thoughts, with a wag in his tail like
he wants to be my friend, but when I turn around he
just stops and stares, then looks away like he's
pondering whether or not there's reason to be afraid
so I lay on the ground and stare at clouds
watching them play hide and seek with the Sun
the little black dog comes closer, he sniffs my
face then licks my ears; as I close my eyes the
rough and wet touch of his tongue comforts me
for a brief moment, then he's gone
I cannot explain how he knows where
to find me or why he seems to care
that I feel so lost, but I'll always
remember those days when a little
black dog was there in those moments
to remind me that when the world
seems so wrong that if I take time to turn
around and lay on the ground I may find
I have a friend who understands how it feels
at times, when you're all alone with your thoughts..
