Dust Storms

Whispers on wings
of rasp uttered remembrance
closes in with choke holds
everything needed said

my eyes mist
caught up in fog
a shroud blanketing valleys
where it said
each journey
buys another golden ticket
swaths of grey field align blue
painting compassion

come to my rescue
has been outcry
uttered cliff-side
watching stone crumble
& echo on
through barren valleys
I've not seen the dust settle yet
