The Day The Tables Turned
This is the day the tables turned,
Light to Dark,
Night to Day;
When the sense of security,
that we hold so dear,
is ripped away,
and we all stand naked
In front of full length mirrors,
Knowing new truths
That we never would have thought to comprehend
We stand alone in oceans of thought,
Deeper than the heart can imagine;
We reach out for any sense of
human connection, Understanding,
But to escape the grips of an insanity
that wishes to ensnare us all.
We must look deep within ourselves,
Be true to ourselves;
Let our minds free to comprehend
the incomprehensible,
To search for meaning when
Our lives have been turned upside down
To find love for those who have closed themselves off
To the openness of human compassion.
This is the day the tables turned
When color has no meaning but beauty and life,
And the warmth we desire
Is replaced by cold winter breezes
That fill us with the biting,
painful reality of what is to come --The Inevitable.
We are free to search out those unexplored caverns
that memory has forgotten;
To spelunk the inner depths of the human spirit
That was lost on a night, so long ago --
And at the end of these dark tunnels of confusion,
We can find some sense of reason,
And an artistic vision of the future that may,
or may not come true;
For we may interact with each other
now, in the present,
but we have all been turned around, upside down,
Our heads on the earth, and our feet in the air,
For This is the day the tables turned
Together we can create beauty,
But knowledge and truth,
we must come to find ourselves.
