A Girl on a Swing
A moment, bittersweet, seemed so clear in her mind.
For once, everything slowed down around her,
And she realized she was just a broken girl -
Alone,
Lost,
And scared.
Alone because she wished for the impossible,
Lost somewhere between this world and her own,
And scared that something was wrong with her.
At an early age, she realized she was the only person she could truly count on.
As a child, she learned to take care of herself.
She got so used to doing things on her own,
But she always wanted to know love.
It was the only thing she thought she needed someone else for.
Sitting in a park,
On a swing,
With sunlight dancing on her eyelids
As she listened to his favourite music...
She realized she didn't need anyone
For anything.
In that moment she felt free.
If no one else would love her, she'd have to learn to love herself.
Just like every other thing no one else ever bothered to do.
