So you tell me what should I call poetry?
Saw a homeless guy,
feeding a possum
bread that's meant for himself,
thought it was beautiful,
perhaps more so than the words
that you've arranged so artistically!
There was beauty
on naked display there,
not that the surroundings
the leafy paths of the park
weren't beautiful
but, of the compassion
which paled everything else!
I saw a young man die the other day
but for once it didn't feel sad
for he had passed away smiling
without any regrets
his head resting
on his mother's lap!
The beauty
on display there
was not that of death
but of one mother's relief
at the end of her son's agony
and her solace in knowing
that her son is returning
to the bosom of
every being's mother!
People die for love,
not just the carnal type
but the so called
patriotic
as well as
the amusement variety
and then
paeans and euologies are written
well, that too
is 'called' poetry,
perhaps!
For heaven's sake,
don't come to me with
skilfully arranged words,
words which are grouped
so masterfully, that
for a moment
Da Vinci's Monalisa
doesn't look smiling anymore,
and say to me that
this! is poetry!
unfortunately this heart though
refuses to agree!
For me,
poetry,
is pure
is nature,
is natural!
scream a single word from your heart
that's poetry to me!
So you tell me what should I call poetry?

Poetry is everything and yet nothing!
You captured it pretty well KD, life is poetry.
To add to this, the other day i was in my car at a stop light and the sun was so hot beating down, everything seemed so gloomy around me.
A middle aged man in raggedy clothes crossed the street pulling a toy truck behind him, he was happy, smiling, carefree and i thought 'what's your story?!'
