Out Of The Ghetto
I started out racking pool balls in
a little pool room in Austin when
I was ten years old and to me
it was a glourios piece of my life
I can remember those Saturdays
I racked pool balls very well
I have thought of then many times
wishing I could go back there
to do it once again cause it was fun
I see and realize now that it was also
as pitiful as any ghetto in the world
a sad fact to mention but its true
the people were all hillbillies
for the most part from eastern KY
they had never seen any flat ground
so they were still jumpy and uneasy
it was a wild side of town at that time
when the players would bend over
to shoot their shots you could see
the 45s and 38 specials slipped under
their belts and jackets plain as day
nobody paid any attention to the guns
I did only because I was so young
I hadn't been around all that much
as of yet...that was how it was in 1958
