Essence of Reminiscence
Living in the past
I constantly am pulled
to things that hold
me in my adol-
escence.
A distance
exists when
you can’t grow
in-to…enough….
….
But….
Enough is enough
but the journey is rough
to change yourself into
an innocent man;
freed from the guilt
of the words of the elders,
that left me
belittled
and scorned,
and too
a victim of the horns
of the curious and bored
as I took in too much
of the world,
and the funny ways
it can make…..
that it makes you….
feel.
What is the deal with love anyway?
Why do people say the things that they say
While the children silently slip away
from the sounds of angry yells and shouts.
unlock the doors and let me out
of your resentment
toward each other.
and the guilt quilted sections
of rejections
into shame;
A blanket made of the rain
And the pride to refuse any help again
But to pretend
that just because it had an end
it never even happened.
I constantly am pulled

escence.
