cavity
safety in concrete
buried in soil.
like dresden, 1945.
they say
it's my defense mechanism.
sometimes
i am the heart
beating against its ribs,
yearning to be part of the world.
sometimes though,
more than i'll admit,
i am unsure
where shelter ends
and where entombment begins.
the world is a
living, breathing
wreck.
the universe is a drunkard
blacking out in an alleyway.
a lack of oxygen to the brain,
and now we see stars.
light can pass through sodium rich eyes like stellar scintillation.
remember
light is just an instrument
to measure the darkness.
