Life is an ocean
A place devoid of light and all other sounds
Beside its own deep and monotone beat
As you sink deeper, the void becomes more dim
And you can hardly keep sight of your own feet.
Life and all there is to it is an ocean
It's all around you, in your ears, on your skin
You reach to try and grasp it with your hand
Tantalized as it eludes your fingers thin.
You sink slowly and soothingly into the deep
Into the mystery of what lies beneath
You'll probably never know
The water may already be the river Lethe
You may try to swim back to the surface
But the depth is a never ending measure
And the languor after kindly reassures
That the fall is at a kind and steady pace.
And as you drift you may be enticed
With whose light pierces through the dark
She comes in the night, maiden above,
And glitters life with a fleeting love
What could this abyss's end be?
And what is the purpose of the drift and sink
When the end perhaps could be the end of me
And as I drift, this is what I think.
